SPRINGLAR was founded by Hugo Oliveira (USA, 1984), an architect and researcher dedicated to bridging the gap between architectural theory and low-carbon construction.

A graduate of ISCTE-IUL (Lisbon, 2009), Hugo’s career is defined by international collaboration and multidisciplinary research. His professional path includes:

Practice: Collaborating with the studio of Sir David Adjaye (London, 2010), as well as collaborating with other offices in Europe.

Research: Serving as a researcher at Columbia University’s C-Lab (New York, 2013-2014).

Editorial: Acting as an editorial assistant at Scopio (FAUP) (Porto, 2014-2015).

Hugo is the author of the book Interviews & Letters, which features dialogues with influential figures such as Álvaro Siza Vieira, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Alain de Botton, and Sou Fujimoto. He continues to explore the intersections of architecture and visual culture through his long-standing platform, Hugo’s Peep Box.

In Portugal, Hugo is experienced with the construction and real estate sectors. Based on this knowledge, he is an intransigent defender of a paradigm shift in building towards a low-carbon construction methodology.
